about

"Galaxy (Early Works 1977-1986) Is Included In this Release (A free code will be sent).

Early days recordings and ideas in my boys room at my parents house in the 70s and "Void" Studio in the 80s. In the 70s I used two Cassette Tape Recorders adding one instrument at a time. For extracting rhythm I also used the two Cassette Tape Recorders recording a longer drum track. Using this technique has given the rhythms some instability. This instability can either be seen as irritation or a peculiarity to put a more personal touch around the way this was done.

At this time, much of the music I made was built around a rhythm that I took from cassettes and LPs. Always looking for drums at the beginning of a song without other instruments.

In 1980 I bought a Scully 8-track 1" Tape Recorder and the Sound Techniques System 12 Mixer and AKG drum Microphones.

For the songs "A Siren's Cry" (1981) and "Present Sign" (1981), I had a clear idea of how the drums and bass should work together and instructed the drummers how I wanted them to play. Here, the drums and the bass work together as a foundation and concept in both songs.

For the '' New York By Night '' I wanted a vast string sound. To make this happen I used the tape speed «knob» on the  8 track Scully tape machine. I recorded the whole song on slower tape speed except for the strings. Recording the strings on the higher tape speed made it sound vast, turning the tape speed one octave lower.
